Hobbs & Osito. RIP. Osito was a gentle giant. Flat Coat Retriever - best guess. Hobbs a Carolina dog. All rescues.

Thanks! He looks as good in person. I think his white fur hides the usual white muzzle that old dogs get. He looks and acts like he is young. Other than a problem with arthritis in one hip, he has no health problems whatsoever. I hope I am as spry as he is when I am 128.

There actually is a dog thread.

Show us your dogs

Would it be bad form for me to move my post there and revive that thread?

Taking the opportunity this thread presents to show off a couple of our previous pups; all have been rescues and all have been terrific. We only have one at a time and we've been very lucky over the years to share our lives with them. Perhaps we'll get to see them again some day.

The one before our current Annie was a Walker hound named Hank, a retired hunting dog who'd had a broken back and was blind in one eye. A total sweetheart.

Before him came a pointer mix named Giles, seen here at the beach.

Dogs with Kitchen Man.
L to R
Fly Justin Bieber -- multi-race winner in Florida, now retired, but ready to rumble.
Pugsley-Mugsley -- PM for short, black as night.
Peter -- just Peter

all rescues, not all full time residents at my address, 'cept Peter.
Sometimes we short-term foster care as well.

edit: no cats

I have surrogate dogs at the neighbors'. I like cats and dogs but not ferrets, weasels or anything that eats it's partner after mating, really not my idea of feminism and that stickbug should have stayed in bed or just went back to the bar.

If I can find or take pictures, Shaggy is an old little mutt now, Joker is a big golden dog with a wrinkly face who is a window washer and a baby like Zeus and Apollo for me, barks at cats but oh well, they co-exist. Harley is a toy poodle. Napolean is in the neighbors' back yard in a cage, he has at least one daughter. RIP Poochie, she went out on walks and one of the people around here beat her badly a few years ago, she didn't make it another three days, her friend Max disappeared and then there is a wonderful golden dog named Missy who loves me a ton.

I was born in the Year of the Horse, which explains why people often don't see what they're stepping into
