I think the topic of proper cottered spindle lengths might deserve its own (anorakish) thread. I have an Automoto frame which came to me with bottom bracket cups but no spindle (well, it came with a square taper spindle that was entirely inappropriate for the cups) and face similar problems. I am used to thinking of square taper spindles and their lengths, but such spindles don't extend all the way to the outer edges of the crank arms. It seems to me that all else being equal, cottered spindles will generally be substantially longer than their square taper cousins to get a similar chainline. But how much longer? 10mm? More?

126 28h hub
Hi, I'm looking for a 28 hole, 126 spaced Hi-E rear hub. I know that might be tricky, so if anyone has another rare/interesting lightweight option that fits those parameters, let me know. Thanks!

I'm piggy-backing on this request cause have been looking/asking for a cable barrel/spring for some time now with no results. This is to complete a Veloce (around '93) RD so used a barrel with the "shaped" end rather than the ridged end as shown in diagram as parts 5 and 6. But if cannot locate the "correct end style" would settle for a different style as long as the threading and OA length works with the Veloce (as I think it will). Please PM me if you (anybody out there) has one, I have a small ton of trade-bait to swap with.

Looking for one of those weird Suntour sealed bottom brackets with a 120mm to 123mm spindle, English threaded.
I think I have a Phil Wood unit w/o rings to trade. Spindle is 103mm, I'll have to double check.

I found the one off eBay after I found mine broken. You can source through EuroAsiaImports (gotta find one of their partner bike shops, Bens Cycle online was one) but if I remember right it was pushing $60 a couple years back before I found the eBay one.
This might be what I ordered. Best to triple check it's what you need, part # isn't the same but always heard the Triomphe (edit: or maybe it was Victory) one worked too. https://www.ebay.com/itm/35324303648...YAAOSwVtta0O-B

jeirvine Thanks for the offer, but I'm going to pass on the VO bottom bracket. I'm looking specifically for the Suntour unit.

It's as I thought: just the cartridge (58mm wide and 30mm OD), bearings seem good if a bit stiff, BUT the asymmetric spindle is longer than 123mm, I get 124.9mm.
That said, I'm local to San Mateo....PM me if interested and/or want me to shoot pix.

Thanks for the offer, clubman but I just combed thru my small parts and found a ridged barrel (probably NOT original Campy) that fits so am calling off the search until a genuine Campy barrel with that "thumbscrew" end shows up (seems to be a 5mm shaft that is required). Thanks again.
