I have a bike from about 1963. Markings: vainquer, type normandie. It is a gold 10 speed, all original. What the heck is it? It was ridden only 3 or 4 times, then stored. Is it worth anything? Should I keep it and ride it? Thank you in advance

What kind of parts are on it? what size are the wheels? It could be worth anywhere from $50 to $1000 or more Do you have any pictures? |

Vainqueur was one of the brands of Heidemann, based in Hanover Germany. Most of the samples that turn up are early 1970s, entry level models of little value. However, we'd require pictures for confirmation.

A bike that has been sitting for 40 to 50 years is in no condition to be ridden. Grease gets old and dries out. Tires dry rot. Cables get rusty. This will happen even if the bike was never ridden. When bikes get put away, maintenance stops. The aging process does not stop.
