This is still my favorite bike in the stable. I wasn't even aware of it's existence until it came up for sale on my local CL. Reynolds 531 throughout, it was Dawes' premier offering to the new-at-the-time All Terrain Bike market. They wanted to make a big splash, apparently.
Some of these images will be repeats, of course, because I will not take the Ranger out in corrosive conditions.
... and of course, I have modified things to suit my preferred riding style, but have also retained all the original equipment so that my LBS can restore her to original when I can no longer ride.
But I have always nurtured this concept of my "Homeless Bike", the one bike from my collection that I would retain to embark on my final adventure in necessity-driven Adventure Cycling. Add a couple of racks, and the Ranger is IT.

Posting all of the Brown and Gold stuff I’ve collected thus far.
My beloved and often used 1968 Super Course.
My 1967 Carlton Flyer. A recent acquisition in “as found” condition, I’ve added the Brooks saddle just to see how it looks. The bike needs a few things plus an overhaul before it’s completed. I’ll give it it’s own thread soon.
1960 Lenton Grand Prix, ithe color is called Sunset Yellow but it’s gold to me.
1980 Holdsworth Special. I love the Phil hubs on this one. A very fun bike to ride!

In the sunlight my daughter’s Schwinn Sierra looks like a deep golden brown. She let me ride it yesterday.
