I bought the el cheapo headset that that Squidpuppet suggested. Now I can just use one complete headset and not have to worry about any fitment issues.

But I have been (over)thinking this crown race thing. It seems the only way to know for sure is to try it. BUT, if there were any alignment issues, could one remedy with loose ball bearings instead of caged?
