The yellow Centurion belongs to a good friend up near Seattle, who is just getting back into cycling. We used to race together back in the 60s, but now most of his bikes have motors on them. Big motors as in motorcycles. The lake is Lake Washington. My Raleigh is parked among the daisies just south of Santa Barbara.
The other two are from Eroica last Sunday. Spring colors, and an Eroica tradition, walking the hills.

We have had two, I repeat TWO very nice days with springtime weather here in NYC so far. My older daughter wanted to take her trike out for a spin while the little one patrolled to ensure that she did not commit any traffic infractions.

Here are some photos snapped with my cell phone yesterday while I was working along the Kings River removing invasive milk thistle (nasty stuff!). Might make a post with a few birds from my more serious outings, but that's all stored on the laptop and it's not charged up at the moment.

Thanks! I'm used to picking 15-30 photos for my blog posts, and keep a lot more than that to save in my Flickr albums. Choosing just a handful to attach to a post here is a bit tricky. I am on the laptop now and decided to stick to my last outing for samples from the decent camera (a Canon Rebel XTI with a 70-300mm lens). My wife and I spent a couple of days at my uncle's beach house in Cayucus, CA over Spring Break a couple of weeks ago, and much of the first day was spent admiring the local wildlife down at Morro Bay.

My Spring commuting season has finally started in earnest, thank goodness. I am currently fatter and slower than I've ever been since I started riding regularly again about seven years ago

Afternoon sun filtering though a glade of alders in a designated wetland between home and work. It's an uphill grind of 1000' gain to get home, so I packed a very cold beer for this pause in the trip.

Can you spot the Bianchi?

It looks like our last rain clouds for the season are leaving coastal California. We won't see this much green again until next February.

don't tell anybody about the bike...

spring seemed to show up, and then went away for a while. At the risk of tempting fate, I'll say that it looks like it is here to stay.
The dandelions and purple loosestrife (I think) have poked their heads up, trying to add a little color to the scenery.

I hate letting a good thread go to waste.

Today's ride was a nice sunny ride from Rotterdam > Hoek van Holland > The Hague Central station. ~50+km and about 3,5 hours with some detours and an ice cream break.

Batavus on the left and my girlfriend's Pelago Stavanger on the right.
