Thanks! I really wish it was my size, was thinking of putting smaller wheels but worry about crank being too low.

Cool. Thanks for the info! I will probably move it forward as it’s too big for me 24” even if I do smaller wheels it ll be too tall.

Eclipse were an English shop brand making mostly touring and a few clubman type bikes.

Frame building was mostly outsourced to Orbit and many if the frames even have the Orbit embossed seatstay caps still present.

I’ve seen a few come through shops and the co-op here (in the UK) but they’re not what you’d call common.

Quality is usual Orbit, either very good or a ‘Friday afternooner’ with a bit of sloppy work, normally good though and ride well enough but Eclipse were always very workmanlike on the finish, plain paint nothing fancy etc.

Ha! Just noticed that gumtree ad is in the town where I live, what are the chances!

This is the bike! So wait, Eclipse was a frame designer separate from Orbit? I love the detail on this bike. I started to clean it up last night and can tell this bike was well cared for even tires are in good condition.

That is a different Eclipse brand. It's the USA based company founded in the 1970s by Shaun Jackson and Leslie Bohm, to manufacture bicycle panniers and other bicycle luggage carriers. They diversified and offered a carbon fame in the late 1980s.

Eclipse

Hi - I have an Eclipse I have had from new, frame no: 060855. It is plain 531 frame and front forks and Suntour rear forks. I am guessing I bought it in '85 (From BIKE UK Charing Cross) - Made May '85 perhaps from the frame no.? Would you have any idea if that is an Orbit frame number format, I read Jeremy Torr of English Cycles did some of their frames?
