Pinarello Stelvio.

Can anyone ID this Pinarello model and year? Seller's crappy pics are all we've got.

EDIT: It's a Stelvio

EDIT #2 : CL pics are gone.

One thing's for sure, it is a Pini.......note the uber flakey decals...
Looks to be from the early 90's if the graphics on the TT is original. Never seen that style of pantograph on the fork crown though..... the QR for the seatpost must be a commuter's add.....it really needs to go on a racebike like that....

We'd need to know the tubeset for a positive identity. While it might be an Asolo as suggested in the previous post, it bears a striking resemblance to a Stelvio.

I haven't gone to check it out yet because of my work schedule. However, I saw it about a year ago when it was priced much higher. It has a dog's breakfast of components. I am efforting to see it tomorrow.

Just picked it up. It's in grubby but good condition. Pinarello decals must be made of tissue paper.

So far, I've learned that it is a steel made for Pinarello by Dedacciai.

I went back though some of my literature. While I don't have the catalogues, I did find specs in old buyer's guides, some of it being contradictory. Here's the summary;

1994 USA: Pinarello Custom Blended tubeset, Campagnolo Athena Ergo, $1800
1995 USA: Dedalo Dolmens tubeset, Campagnolo Athena Ergo, $2050
1997 USA: Dedacciai Dolmens tubeset, Campagnolo Athena, $2095.

There was no Stelvio listed in 1996 but there was a Monviso with Dedacciai Kens tubing and Campagnolo Athena Ergo for $2299. What is really interesting is that CDN guides list the 1996 Stelvio with Dedacciai Kens tubing and Kens OS tubing in 1997. So, like some other brands, there appears to have been some market dependent variation, which complicates accurate identification.

I have removed the Troy Lee Designs stickers to reveal the original Stelvio decals. They are in great condition.

Seriously? Have you mixed up May 1st and April 1st? Pinarello decals are typically not clear coated and are notoriously fragile. I'm surprised the Stelvio decal didn't pull off with the TLD stickers. Regardless, it's nice to have confirmation of the model. I trust you are enjoying your latest acquisition.

The Stelvio decals are probably the ones in the best condition. The down tube decals aren’t in totally bad shape either. NDS looks worse than DS.
The seat tube Pinarello decals are almost totally gone but the Trevino Italy decal on the front of the seat tube looks great.
I figure to get a replacement set anyway so didn’t have much to lose.

As we now have confirmed what this Pinarello is, I have moved this thread from C&V Appraisals to regular C&V.

While it's a moot point, now that you've found the stickers intact, the fork on this one marks it as a Stelvio; to my knowledge the Asolo never came with a fork like that.

The cable vents on the Stelvio were usually the nicer, low-profile ones.

I've been taking my bike apart to overhaul it. I found the word OLTRE written on the fork. And I found a 4 digit number stamped into it. Weird is that the first number, either a 6 or a 9, is turned sideways.

Thoughts?
