What model Sakae stem is this?

A forum member was showing off a steed in a post and I spied their quill stem. It's nice to have a hinge allowing for removal of the bars without having to unwrap the bars or remove brake levers. A somewhat rare design.

Any idea what model this stem is? Google images is giving me nothing and I'd like to use one for an upcoming build.

Thanks everyone!

I had this one on my Concord, but it was from another bike. Looks about the same, but without the hinged clamp.

Like Dia Compe with their brakes, Sakae offered a great number of different stems and handlebars to their OEM customers. You'd need to find their catalog to identify it.

Nobody, huh!? Tell me this little 'ole stem hasn't stumped the group.

I don't know the name of the stem but I doubt that knowing it would help you find one, as most sellers probably wouldn't know the name either. It sounds like all you really want is a quill road stem with a removable or hinged face plate, to facilitate changing handlebar. If so, there are many vintage and current options, such as the 3T Quick Release, 3T Evol, Cinelli Domino, Cinelli Oyster, Deda Murex.Origin8 Ultim, Profile H2O, etc. If you are willing to accept some rise, there are lots of quill stems with removable face plates for hybrid bicycles.though they often have smaller clamp diameters.

And that's the rub. Plenty of quill stems with removable face plates and drop but not plentiful are stems with a neutral position or, even better, rise (like the Sakae). I suppose the H2O is an option but it's just about the ugliest stem I've ever laid eyes on.

Perhaps the title of this thread should be: What 1" quill stems, with removable face places, do you know of that have rise (or are neutral)?

Along with the Sakae, this Salsa seems nice.

Sunlite have a similar style to the SR but with a removable face plate.
