Vintage CX bike or tourer? Identification help
So , found this ad on a local forum complete with horrible blurry pictures. But, it looks interesting insofar I know that dedicated vintage shttps://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...beb9dd3857.jpg
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...6cf6e2ea9b.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...c071e4eaf3.jpg teel CX bikes are fairly rare. Could someone shed a light on weather this is indeed a cyclocross bike and not a tourer? What i see for far: - steel frame with decent dropouts -cannot distinguish water bottle studs (race frame?) - cables routed on top of top tube -strange indent on non drive side chain stay (looks too regular to be a dent) The seller asks for 200 euros and the size looks to be good...Thank you |
In the US id call that a CX bike- and at 200 euro a good deal. the cable routing is full cx, and the crankset is as well. if its got clearance for CX tyres would be the clincher. but I suspect it does- canti brakes and all.

No bottle bosses and the cables run along the TT I'd call it a cross bike. Watch thew size though, it likely has a slightly higher BB so a 57 might fit more like a 59

The absence of dropout eyelets, high BB shell and shallow fork rake are other factors pointing to a CX bicycle. That strange indent may actually be an investment cast chain stay bridge.

Thank you all, i have contacted the seller asking for more pictures, see what happens. Still think that 200 euros is a bit high...
