The end of the beginning

Sorry for the order of photos but the new regime won't let me remove and try and re-load......

I had a Kabuki hanging in my garage and a fellow saw it while buying some cycling shoes
https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-v...seems-odd.html

He offered some cash ($45) and a very rough League Fuji - but the frame was my size so how could I refuse? This was what I got. No other parts. frame number was FJ413847. The rust demons had been to visit and there were paint chips and it will need new decals. paint would have been "Sonic Blue". I found an old listing on forums of the ad for the bike showing components to see what I needed. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...1ddbd1b725.jpg

I added parts as I found them. I rebuilt the BB and asked on here loose ball bearings or caged and just about started a war between the different camps. Rebuilt wheel hubs as well and pretty much everything is added on or replaced.

The bars would have had something called “shiny tape” I prefer a bit of padding so that didn’t happen and a “DID Lanner” chain which I didn’t even go look for. The pedals are MKS but they don’t have period appropriate straps yet. The seat would have been a “Feather FFV-85 but I added an old San Marco I had. Rear rim is the Ukai it came with while the front is now (I think) a Ukai as well. Brakes levers are Dia Compe 144g with aftermarket Cane Creek hoods. Tires are Gatorskins

I know that the paint is badly worn and that the decals are ruined. The odd paint spots are cover-up over rust spots and nicks. I plan to repaint with a brush and I believe I will find a very close match to the original blue at the rear and then slowly transition to a light blue as I move forward.

Nice bike! How does it ride?

It rides amazing!

Trying pedals with half clips and will transition to spd-sl pedals as it will be my distance rider.

Not bad rust but paint was trashed and decal are tired so might buy an air brush then a new set of decals
