Gotta get me a magic eraser.

I get 'em by the box at the dollar store. They make the Carlton hoods on my International look new. Tom, what's the saddle on your (new) Lemond?

I'll watch for dollar stores. Amazon has a 30 pack for $11. Is that a good deal?

The saddle is a Specialized Riva. Not as good as a Brooks but still excellent for me. It's a bit hard on my sit bones but only while I'm on it. In other words, as soon as I get off, there is no pain or fatigue, and the hardness is not severe. And it's lightweight. I have two of these saddles. They seem to be out of production.

Unit cost on the 30-pack is pretty good...I think the dollar store variety comes 4-6 per box and that lasts a long time for me, anyway. Groceries (t least the larger ones outside Manhattan) often have them in store brands too.

I should try that Cambium you mentioned to me one of these days.

If you need a saddle, yes, try the Cambium before the Riva. I got the Cambium with the same idea of the leather handlebar tape: value over time.

I usually buy NOS stuff from the seventies and eighties whenever I come across it. Generally cheap - $5 on average - and period-correct for many of my bikes. I find that most modern tapes just look too modern on a forty-year old bike.

The notable exception was this stuff. I'd bought a pack for one of mrs non-fixie's bikes, and was so impressed with it that I got another for myself to try out. It's currently on my Bontekoe-Alan. It's a faux suede-like (not a pleonasm - they call it "velour") material that feels quite nice, and looks rather plush, IMO. The jury's still out on its durability and re-wrapping qualities, but I'm fairly optimistic. (BTW, I have no business interest in the stuff. I get it at Bikester for €12. Available in black as well, I just noticed)

I wrapped it top-to-bottom, just to see if that would hold up, as I couldn't imagine finishing tape looking good with this stuff. And yes, I need to find lever hoods that fit better.

Thanks for the heads up. That's nice looking tape. It has the 70s vibe for sure. I'm not sure if there's a way for me to acquire it here in the USA. I have been using the Fizik suede-like tape, but it only comes in black or grey. Bonus points for the top down retro wrapping. It still prefer to do it that way. No termination tape is needed at the top, and it looks neater.

Nettles in the background! I used to hate those things. Taste good in soup though.

Not really C&V, but my new favorite is Supacaz. It is expensive but can be found on ebay for way cheaper. I won't pay more than $25 -which is still a lot but it can be re-applied somewhat justifying the cost. It is very easy to install.

Also, they come with very cool aluminum bar plugs.

It is the best feeling tape I've ever used.... :thumb:

Not crazy about the wild colors, but their black, white, gun metal and brown look good to me.

UPDATE: I just removed my daughter's Supacaz tape after ~10months. It is definitely not reusable. In fact, it was quite hard to remove without leaving half (most) of the foam backing stuck to the bars. Ugh....
