Colnago makeover

Ive been wanting to replace the Nuovo Record r/d since I bought the bike, finally done. And once I got over the sticker shock of the tires, I finally pulled the trigger on some quality tires and replaced the blackwalls.

Gorgeous bike - very nicely done! You will be happy with those tires.

Thanks, I was hoping they’d be a little wider. They look like 23’s.

Beautiful bike, sir, I hope it rides as nice as it looks!

Excellent! I have Veloflex tires on my Colnago, love ‘em. And they wear slowly in my experience.

Looks great sloar. Ride report required, or requested. The tires are worth it and it would be nice if the 25 was a but more plump. I always buy a pair when they go on sale. The tan sidewalls just look right on a red bike IMO. What rims are those?

My memory is terrible and I’m at work, but I’m almost positive that they are Campagnolo Mexico rims.

Great looking bike! Enjoy it!!

Looks nice.

I wish they made a 700x28 or even better, a 700x32 Master.

They are fantastic tires.

That looks so pretty. My favorite tires too... Oh my!

I am admittedly biased, but I love the frame color and the way Italian bikes ride and handle.

I agree with some of the others regarding tire size -- I use 25-26mm (callout 28mm) Contis on the Bianchi, and true 28mm or wider tires on the other bikes, which have more clearance.

Let us know how the tan sidewalls hold up for you, because sidewall rot has been my main motivation in changing over to blackwall tires.

I have one pair that has lasted three seasons of regular use.

You'll run out of tread before the rot sets in if you ride them 1,500 a year.

Even if you rotate them.

I remember having Super Record envy whilst riding a Daccordi with a Nuovo Record rear derailleur. I just had to do the swap as I just couldn't ignore it. Once it gets into your brain it can't be supressed, haha.

What a beauty, and with those new gumwalls it just demands to be admired.

Thanks

Absolutely stunning Colango. Love the tires as well. I think I may have to pick some up.

SJX426 05-27-18 11:54 AM

beautiful color! Now you need a SR FD!

crank_addict 05-27-18 04:05 PM

That is one handsome machine. So nice to see
without massacre NASCARized stickers.

Brewsmith 05-27-18 04:22 PM

Great tires, but I will warn against taking them on anything other than clean tarmac. I have had two experience catastrophic sidewall failure with sub 200 miles hitting some small rocks...

toavii 05-27-18 04:48 PM

Looks the part. Nice build!

Those tires are all I use if I’m mounting anything in the 23-25 area. Great riding tires. I get about a year (Spring/Summer/Fall) and a half out of a set on my Tommasini which is the bike I ride the most. Yes, they’re spendy and, yes, they wear quickly. But I haven’t found anything that rides as nice on a racing bike in that volume. Quickly changes the ride quality of your bike.
