EDIT:

(just from a quick search- it looks like they used 024 and not 019 or 022.)

The Tom Kellogg built Signature models were either Columbus tubing (Criterium and Track) or Reynolds 531 (Touring).
The later production models were Ishiwata.

Sorry for the lousy quality of the attached photos, the first is a picture of a photocopy, the second is courtesy ebay.

Not the original Signature series that were handmade in PA.
The later Signature series, like the 292S were made in Taiwan and were not up to the level of the original series. Tom and Jeff were less than enthusiastic about "those imported ones".

Ha! When I showed Tom an original of that ad (above), he said "Look at me, I had hair!" :)

Happy 531 to you, Reynolds, and all your double butted goodness. You make cycling smooth and effortless.

This thing is 10 years old and I believe @sykerocker is still making good use of it. The original thread is a good laugh, if you enjoy bad puns.

Congrats! 👍 Now you'll have to change both your names to Reynolds. 😁🙄😉

Nah, it's the 22nd of EVERY month. :thumb:

Hope I'm not too late with this "Reynolds 531 Frame Tubing" decal. Found it on my Jacques Anquetil.

I worked at a Peugeot-Nishiki dealership, and those 531 stickers at the top of the PX-10 and PR-10 seat tubes were extremely vulnerable to destruction in shop stands. We made it store policy to clamp these bikes from the top tube, even though this positioned some of the larger framed ones much lower than even the shortest mechanics would prefer.

My Siegers are full double-butted 531, but one is a repaint and the other has the Reynolds decal covered by a bike license, which I somehow suspect was put there by a bike shop to conceal Reynolds 531 decal mayhem.

Ha! Thanks to this thread I just realized that I too was married on 531. Just celebrated our 5th.

Hope you had a good one too.

Good to know, someone really mutilated my PR10's decal. The rest of the bike looks decent, but the 531 decal took a beating. Wait, my 531 decal is on the downtube above the shifters, not usual for a work stand clamp. My gold '78 Super Course has the scraped up decal on the seat tube, same reason?

Reynolds deliberately made them using a fragile, multi-layer transfer to prevent people from easily removing them to apply to non-Reynolds frames.

I have a number of original multi-layer Reynolds transfers, but unfortunately not the French language version.

Our policy was to clamp on the seat post, or Park ISC-1 internal seat tube clamp. The ISC-1 allows the frame to be positioned at the same height as a frame clamped directly on the seat tube.

Yep, mainly because long ago I forgot the procedure for changing it, and now I'm just as happy to let it stay.

Shouldn't that include sporks? A good spork is essential on a touring frame. 😁

Not as much as the leftovers...when you get hungry.

Here's the full bike SurferRosa.

Nearly 8 years to get to 531 posts. A very small fraction of the thousands of posts I've read and learned from. Thanks to all who contribute.

Cheers.

Cheers. And where can I see pics of your 531SL bike?

We need a 531SL thread. (Just wish I had one.)
