Cyclephile sounds kind of creepy. Can we come up with something else?

noglider 06-07-18 06:01 PM

-phile just means lover. If you associated it with pedophile, well ... ?

Charles Wahl 06-07-18 07:12 PM

STABLE had me and my spouse ROTFLMAO. That's a significant part of a couple rooms in my apartment.

WGB 06-07-18 07:45 PM

You had me covered with WIP,
My wife would point to the garage and judge me NESTY,

Well aware of the meaning of ..phile, as in audiophile and Francophile. It just sounds creepy.

Kontact 06-07-18 07:54 PM

Pedalphile would be much less creepy.

Hudson308 06-07-18 07:59 PM

Bike guys should marry women who sew. Neither is entitled to complain about the other's hobby.

Pompiere 06-08-18 05:26 AM

My wife sews and has projects that match every one of those categories.

Isn't the proper term cyclophile? Of course, depending on your preferred threading standard you could also be a velophile or biciphile. Personally, I prefer velophile, even though I'm not a big fan of French bicycles.

There's also the double-entendre, RIP. Of course, the meaning within our fraternity is Restoration In Progress, though the traditional meaning often seems more appropriate to outsiders. .

I definitely have a STABLE of materials still awaiting my front rando-bag project I keep putting off :(

Oh well, once I get started, I'll probably make five or six in a row :)

Velocivixen 06-08-18 11:06 PM

I’m going to print this up for myself. I just bought my first sewing machine! And patterns, and supplies, and sewing machine oil, etc.

I should get you in touch with Mrs. Road Fan, who’s a very avid quilter!

At work RIP means Retired In Place. It is used for that older person who is always there, but doesn't seem to have any real job. Somehow, they have escaped downsizing. Retired In Place could be used to describe the bike you never ride anymore, but has sentimental value or you have had it so long that you forgot why you bought it.

Velocivixen 06-09-18 10:17 AM

@Road Fan - I’ll definitely do some basic, small scale quilting.

My machine is on “layaway” and I’m selling bikes & bike stuff locally to fund it. I know, blasphemy right?
