Schwinn Continental

Hi,
I'm restauring a Schwinn Continental back in its most original condition.
Can someone tell me, based on the serialnumber BH025951, in what year it's made and if lemon/yellow was the original colour? Underneath I found a redish lacquer)
Many thanks!
Steffy

This site provides serial number lookups. It say yours is a 1972, and further looking reveals that the 72 Continental was offered in "Kool Lemon".

February 1972.

I believe the red is the primer that Schwinn used on all their bikes at that time, but someone with far more knowledge will come along.

Kool yellow was was an option that year, as was Sierra Brown and Burgandy.
1972 Schwinn

I think so too, there's primer-looking red under the light blue paint on this Continental mixte parts bike
