Crazy, Right? With John's notoriety and expertise on frames, I got real nervous to talk to him, but he was really cool. Super nice of him to help me out with the info.

Now to get the stem (Cinelli XA on the way) and seatpost back to correct!

Now that you have John's input, I would reach out to Andy. By all accounts he is a great guy and would imagine he will help if he can,

Well, I can pretty much confirm it's not Hampsten's as his Giro Frame is 55.5 c-c. This one is a 54.6 c-c.

I know it's probably not Andy's but he may have some input, can't hurt to ask.

There was a Huffy Team frame thread here quite awhile back, original rider has a shop, poster met up with him and had a great encounter.

Ok, Andy responded and couldn't recall any detailed frame specifics, as multiple shops made their race units, but he did refer me to Mike Fatka, the Team Manager, who apparently is the primary keeper of all things Raleigh-Levi's-SRC. He is apparently the last stop on this treasure hunt. Detailed message sent!

Cool Thread! Cool bike.

Andy and his brother have Bikes ? Hampsten Cycles here in Seattle and if I ever win the Lottery I am ordering up a bike from America's only winner of the Giro, and I want to say he occasionally leads tours in Italy (www.cinghiale.com) so that would be on the list too.

Ok! So Mike Fatka also seems to agree with the Land Shark angle, but he forwarded to what seems to be the remaining Skunk River Cycles guard. I have also asked him to see if he can remember which riders were shorter than Hampsten to help narrow down the possibilities. That type of stuff is impossible to find on the net.

Did you put a serial number on the rear dropout in such a way that pro frame builder would mistake it as his own?

Look, I get the rarity of this situation. Everytime I have sent the pics and details to these guys, I prepare to get bad news... As of today, there has been none.

You did the right thing and got lucky at the same time, whether by design or not, it's all good, well done.

I love it when this happens.

Thanks! The CL Ad was intriguing, but it's luck for sure. Actually, I would have been cool with this bike regardless...
