BB-6500 serviceable?

I think I know the answer to this but before I toss it out are there any tips on possibly saving my crunchy BB? RJ the bike guy has a video of servicing a squared taper sealed bb so it gave me hope. But I found that there is no lock nut on this one to allow removal of bearings. Has anyone attempted to do this?

I'm with you. Hate throwing those things in the trash. I asked the experts a few years ago and the response was that they are consumables. I now have a pair of 7700s.

It's not crunchy because the bearings are dry, it's crunchy because the spindle races are pitted, possibly from rust. No way to save it.

I was in the same boat. Found a NOS 105 to replace it. The 6500 were scarce, and that was a few years ago.
