Hi I have two Frejus frames that were my dad’s and will be grateful for any help in identifying them.
one has frame number 029678 head badge which says Campione Del Mondo 1930-33-48. The other frame no 33709 - head badge as above but with 1930-32-48-51-53 many thanks Kas |

Welcome to the forums. Identification is complicated by the fact that the frames have been updated with new fittings, refinished and modern components installed. However, assuming the head badges are OEM, the 1st frame is 1948 to 1951 based on the palmares. Frejus won another world championship in 1954, so the 2nd frame would be late 1953 to 1954. The one pictured has a rear dropout with integral hanger, so it should be a Supercorsa or Corsa, though curiously, they look like Campagnolo, as opposed to the typical issue Simplex of the era. They also lack the oiler ports for the headset and bottom bracket bearings, that were typical of the high end models of the era. What size of seat posts do they require?

Can you advise what I should measure please |
...I agree with T-Mar in all things bike identification, and can only add that my impression from looking at Frejus bikes, (and owning a couple,) is that the ones that have a seat lug like your **709 frame, (as opposed to the one stamped **678) are the later ones, from the late 60's to early 70's. The older ones I've seen in person have never been older than the early 60's, so if your palmares on the head badges are the originals, (and not either something from other bikes or reproductions), I'm completely out of my depth..
The question about the seat post diameter is to attempt possible to figure out what sort of tubing was used in the frame construction, which can give some clue to age as well. The repaint and updating of all the components makes this a very difficult request. |
