Oh no. Not another one.
Yes, sorry 'bout that. Another Bontekoe.
I guess I'm now officially a Bontekoe hoarder.
Minutes after I'd found the Bontekoe Altec, I came across another one that had a look I didn't recognize, but looked interesting enough to whet my appetite. So I did the right thing and made a decent offer. Picked it up yesterday and found some time today to take a closer look and a few pics.
Not my size, alas, but then again, it won't take up much wall space either:

Repainted and rebadged, by the look of it:

I'll admit these helped enormously to make the buying decision. MAFAC "TIGER" brakes. Rare beasts:

What probably fueled my curiosity most were these seat stay tops:

Fork crown says "classic Dutch of decent quality or better":

But the final check, almost an afterthought, revealed its true identity. This serial number, both the format and the actual number, says "Gazelle":

I'm pretty happy.

Bravo! Nice details on the frame. Is it a possible rider for the misses? I hate to think of a bike as wall art.

Have always thought there was some sort of cosmic rule that every interesting bike non-fixie found as exactly his size.
(exactly the opposite of the situation for the rest of us mere mortals!)
Verktyg tends to assert that every frame with this seat stay treatment is a Bertin.
Those felines are priceless.
Lugset BOCAMA, crown VAGNER Nr. 11.
Ends set apears Freres Huret; expect they have the adaptor washer in there to accommodate Maeda San.
Seat binder EJAC, Etablissements J. Jeunehomme.
ID - those darned non-Thompson's are simply ever'whar!
Only thing missing is a Bontekoe dealership shingle to hang up out front.

Kidding aside, I did just find some evidence that seems to confirm that this is actually a 1968 Gazelle:

From what I've read, in 1968 Gazelle were in the middle of integrating the just-acquired Locomotief brand. Locomotief were famous for their racing bikes (the Dutch team won the 1953 TdF on Locomotief) and their shop manager, Bertus Slesker, was asked to set up a Gazelle racing department. Which he did. It produced the Champion Mondial and the 1969 world road title.

And yes, ZEUS bits always seem to come attached to nice bicycles. Found another ZEUS bit, BTW: the seat post. A 26.8mm version of their Campagnolo record copy:

wrt 3speedslow's suggestion of a mount for Mrs. non-fixie -
i know you have written that she is most pleased with her Canadian Mercier.
one solution to too many small framed cycles might be to move to a middle eastern nation where multiple wives are the norm.
somehow, i suspect the current Mrs. non-fixie might not be too thrilled at this prospekt!
in all seriousness, congratulations on yet another excellent find.

What this bike does for me is confirm that the Bontekoe shop never had a problem putting their decals on any bike, as long as it was of decent or better quality and would make its owner happy. Which probably helped them to stay in business so long (almost a hundred years, now).
My impression is that this frame was repainted and built up somewhere in the late seventies or early eighties by Bontekoe for a specific client, with the parts that were available within the client's budget.
The corn cob in the rear and the near-matching chain rings up front suggest that client was a fairly serious rider.
It also brings up the question of where this frame fits in the Gazelle history and line-up. Is it a pre-takeover Gazelle design? Is it a Locomotief? Or is it a first joint effort?
The 1967 catalogue doesn't show anything like it. The 1969 catalogue shows only one frame in this size (~50 cm): a youth racing frame, that came only in 48x20 SS form, for a newly formed junior racing category (it mentions Durifort tubing and Zeus fork ends). The adult frames started a 53cm.

What the heck is it with you and collecting a lot of the same bike? That's crazy...

Anyway, that problem might solve itself. She does like the Mercier, and gets lots of (male) attention at C&V rides with it, but to my surprise she mentioned, while returning from La Savoureuse a couple of weeks ago, that it might be time for a new bike.
This N+1 thing might actually be contagious.

Dating "Gerrit" or the non-Thompson's in disguise (with or without diamonds) -
his first generation or "Mk.I" Nervar Star chainset ended in 1975
however, the fittings could easily be misleading dating aids since he has been the recipient of a respray and retransfer...
---
WARNING! Do not permit, under any circumstances, a certain "Edoardo" young lady to view the image of the seat cluster. Even though she be five thousand kms distant you will be surprised how fast she can get there and be pounding on the front door demanding that "Edoardo" pump holder set.
Distance be no obstacle when an enthusiast spots a rare fitting...

I think it's a Gazelle, but not sure it's a Gazelle Race. There has been a B frame, made of Durifort, with Zeus ends. BB looks fairly familiar, i.e. Gazelle. The 50 cm thing is no problem, you could order frames in other sizes than 53 - 62 cm for
Fl 35,00 extra.
Parts are odd and mostly not from the catalogs, if it would fit the wallet, it would fit the bike, I guess. Klant was koning
Nice find, Bontekoe was always quality, but the decals don't look very professional/tasty.
