130 BCD Chainring Options
I'm restoring a Miyata 912 which has a Shimano 600 (arabesque) crank. The chain rings are well worn so I'm looking for NOS on ebay but am wondering if there are other options.

Pretty much any bike shop or online seller will have rings in that size. It’s worth playing with a gear calculator before you buy new chainrings. Many folks find they don’t really use the top few gears with a 52t ring. Sizing down to a 48 or so may get you a more useable full range, unless you are a beast or have enviable descents. |
I am restoring the bike so I'm looking for chain-rings that have the same same look and are compatible with the uniglide 6 cog cassette.

The 130mm BCD rings on arabesque cranks look like just about any silver rings of that very common size these days, except they didn’t have the shift assist shapes on the back side. That said, I find the smaller holes of many Sugino outer rings don’t look as good. Compatibility with your cassette is no problem, despite what some manufacturers might say about “speeds”. If there’s a nearby bike co-op or seller of used components, you can save money by looking there. For new rings, Harris Cyclery has TA rings, which are lovely and long-lasting, but pricey: https://www.harriscyclery.net/produc...05/?rb_ct=1278 Here’s a source of many brands in that size: https://www.universalcycles.com/shop...?category=2629 Congratulations on the Miyata 912. I’m still loving my ‘79 bought new, now in its fourth major configuration. I’ve put almost 100 miles on it in the last week. |
any chainring on the front is compatible with in back, because bike chains are all 1/2" pitch
3 / 32" wide covers 5,6 speed, and many IGH .. stamped chainrings Sugino's basic offering are still made.. |
Weren't the W cut rings standard or at least available with Arabesque?

David Banzer bought out the remaining stock of Willow chainrings a couple years ago. He has a few 130s left, but I have a feeling maybe only 48T and 49T. I bought one of each and am currently running the 49 on my first-gen Dura-Ace crank. Note that he may also have a Willow tripleizer if you're thinking of going the triple route.
