Fall CCRT?

Columbus Day weekend just 3 Saturdays away.

Giacomo 1 09-19-18 01:04 PM

Unless this is a secret members only event, you might want to tell folks here what the CCRT is...

himespau 09-19-18 01:29 PM

Thank you.

Hope you didn't give away "the secret!" ☺

No secret. Cape Cod Rail Trail. Twice a year, Patroit's Day weekend and Columbus Day weekend. C&V theamed, but all welcome. Been doing it for years, just how many I'm not quite sure of. Posted it weeks ago:

Officially Sunday. Works for me

Prowler 09-19-18 07:11 PM

I'm planning to be there on the Sunday. Old same spot. Old same time. No indication that the Bass river bridge will be open. Big complicated job there I suppose.

Those photos are dated. The temp fences have been extended but still can be breeched. The bridge has jersey barriers - plural- at each end. Back in July there was a reporter on the local news Roundup saying that "aggressive cyclists" had been accessing the path & using it. You could hear the air quotes in his voice. Said it was ahead of schedule & could be open by late August or September. Didn't do any work on it until week of Labor Day. Put in railings.

Rode it 8 or so times before the barriers went up.

Rode by the Yarmouth end today & could see them working on the path but too far away to see what they were doing. Will be riding it Sunday to check it out.

My wife and I rode it from Harwich to Yarmouth and back on Sunday. Delightful.

To go from PA to FFD to CCRT ride and back to PA would not be to bad of a drive. Have to look into this. It would be fun. I love visiting the Cape.
bought this mug in Hyannis way back in 76.

Construction update:. All the railings are done. Paved it so the path and the bridge surface meet nice and evenly. Rode by while they were doing it Thursday and spoke to someone working on it who said it would probably officially open in a couple of weeks.

Unofficially rode from my house in Yarmouth to Chatham today. Jersey barriers are gone, temp fences are folded back at the bridge and in Dennis and at the Yarmouth end open enough for one bike to get through. Only issue is at the Yarmouth end there is a gap of 10-12 inches where the path and the road meet that's a good 4-6 inches deep.
Might be rideable by next weekend, still recommend meeting at the same old place and if a nice enough day tack on an exploratory ride over the Bass River bridge.

We'll do that.
Weather looks good six days out.

Im leaving Friday dawn to go PA to Farmington Canal Trail, to FFD to CCRT and back to PA on Sunday evening. Well worth the trip (for the trails and for the friends). Of course, your trip is an hour longer each way. The weather for driving should be perfect.

Where is "the Yarmouth end"? What cross road? Well marked? I may ride the new section late Saturday afternoon as I won't have time on Sunday.

I'll see everyone there at the usual trailhead.
