Maximum tire clearance on a Trek 420 Fast Track?

Just wondering what the tire clearance on this generation trek 420 might be? I'm looking to get more than the 28mm with fenders my present ride allows. Thanks, Woody

I found a Trek Spec manual that puts the maximum at 32mm.

No mention of fenders though.

1996 Trek Manual

Still hoping for some real work confirmation.
