To butcher or not. That is the question.

I have been searching for replacement bearing races for a front Normandy high flange hub without much luck. Yesterday I acquired a quite nice Schwinn front hub with a 23mm race that I need my issue is that I cannot bring myself to destroy this hub to get the races out. If anyone needs a 27” schwinn Front wheel with the block-script lettering on the hub. I will swap for a set of races.

I had these cracks on an old Campy high flange hub. I found a replacement hub on Ebay for $65. Later I found an empty hub body at a swap meet for $5. I stripped all the innerds out of the cracked hub, and now I have a spare. Have you tried the local co-op, swap meet or Ebay? I didn't know the races were removable. I thought they were machined into the hub body.

It is an aluminum body with a steel race. I removed the broken race with a blind bearing puller but with good races there are no gaps for the jaws to grab. With good races The hub must be cut and driven out from the opposite side.

I knew Record hubs have replaceable races, but I didn't know Normandy do as well.

i am not sure if this qualifys but I ended up cutting the flange and hammering out the race. Even though the one I cut was low flange it was still 23mm OD. All went well rather smoothly and assembled well without any problems.
