I second that motion - silver groupset. It'll make the black frame look even better.

I think it deserves Campagnolo - Potenza maybe?

That's 2 votes for silver.

I kind of agree, as I have a black Torelli Pista set up in silver and it look quite good if I may say so!

Microshift is another company that makes drivetrain groups, but not brakes/hubs/cranksets. The shifters and mechs are Shimano compatible, and usually found at decent prices via ebay retailers. They make the components for Sun XCD, but also sell under the Microshift brand.

https://www.microshift.com/en/

If you go all black, Chain Reaction has a good sale on 105 brakes right now.

Pretty interesting and thanks for answering my question.

The components get good reviews and the prices I see on e bay are very tempting. Their brifters look especially sharp and well built. Nice to see another company in the game.

I purchased a black bike with a black group several years ago and never warmed to the look so I replaced all the black bits with silver. On another forum a member with the same frame and a black group later changed his to silver and he said that seeing mine influenced his decision. I can't find any old pics when it was all black but here it is with the silver group.....IMO it really makes the black frame stand out.

Well, there are a few votes for silver, so the vote is kind of split right now. That beautiful OV crank does come in silver, so we shall see. Its definitely the easier way to go and offers more options.

BTW, that's a pretty bike. What is it?

That is gorgeous. I *love* the choice for bar tape. Too many people are afraid of adding color.

Another nice thing about silver crank arms, which is quickly a negative about black ones, is they hide scratches. Black crank arms make the inevitable scratch appear 10x worse.

I am on the "black paint + shiny silver parts"-side. Contrast is nice.

I would like to see this on the NYC roads in the new year! BTW if you are in need of any black parts (bars, stem seatpost) let me know. I have a good bit in nice condition that I do not plan on using.

A question - I'm looking at a 9 speed campy ergo system that includes rear derailleur and shifters. Seller says its for a 3x9 system. I want to go 2x9. Is it possible?

Thanks Greg!

Hoping to have her ready around Christmas. Of course then there is January, February and March to contend with, but she will definitely be in the streets by spring!

I will be in touch, thank you for the offer!

Sure, change the crankset, set the FD limit screws and chain length properly and you're good to go. The shifters could be either double or triple. Well anything above xenon or mirage anyway. It seems like some of those were starting to index at 9s, but I could be wrong.

I think it might depend on the year then, but I'm not sure. Hopefully, someone else will have a more definitive answer for you.

I actually got a reply to my question from the seller and he was honest, thankfully.

He said it can work, but not optimally. He said it would be tough to get the trim shift points correct, so I'm guessing that it would shift ok, there would always be some noise and chatter which is a no-go.

No rush really, but he had the 2 shifters with the rear derailleur in VGC for $75, which I thought was a great deal.
