Marin palisade

I have recently acquired an old Marin palisade and I would like help to date it , the rear brake is situated next to the bottom bracket , never seen one there before....sorry no pics , the site wont let me !!

Chain stay mounted U-brakes was an unpopular design that was only lasted a few years in the late 1980's. I'm guessing your bike was manufactured in 1988 or '89.

We can eliminate 1989, unless it is a very small frame. That year Marin used cantilevers except on the smallest frame size, where they continued with the chain stay mounted U-brake, due to heel clearance issues with cantilevers on the shorter and more acutely angled seat stays.
