What's Hot - What's Not ???

A short conversation in the Ebay / Craigslist thread got me thinking.

As far as used bike sales of note go, what's hot and what's not in your area ???

Overall, sales are down this summer and downright molasses this fall, which may have something to do with weather here in the Tundra. I also think 'brifters or bust' is a real thing.
Vintage Treks can be had for $100. Schwinn Travelers are the same. LeTours as well. Lately, I've seen some vintage Cannondales sitting around a bit longer than usual as well, but they don't come up often.
Aluminum Treks are always pretty hot, but have to be in the $160 range and minty. I think people are being more picky about condition as well.
Facebook is hotter than Craigslist

Please list your location if it's not in your signature as we all know it makes a big difference

I'll listen in. None of it is hot in my area. All of my bikes come in from the outside world.

Fire: very hot
Ice: not.

Vintage bikes in general? Generally a buyers' market. I'm OK with that.

Seems like another good idea for an ongoing thread is going to die on the vine!

If craigslist is any indication, cheap, neglected department store bikes are what is "hot" around here.

Doesn’t feel like much of anything on the Green Bay CL ever sells. I see the same postings recycled week to week.

I call it "The Magna Effect"

I see an incrdible number of crappy crappy bikes offered for a lot of money. All theese people are sitting at home watching "American Picker", then deciding to go on th einterent and decide their univega is a 1940s Schwinn (based on the serial number).

Anything Campagnolo is hot hot hot. I

Whoever said Facebook is better tha Craiglist is onto something.

The same 70s vintage Bottecchia "Special" has been on Appleton CL for years now. The seller dropped the price from $200 to $150 a couple months ago. It's probably worth $50, tops.
