This is a pretty straightforward question. Can a direct mount Simplex RD with a tab be used on a threaded Campagnolo (standard) dropout?

Yes, IIRC, the hat shaped bolt that screws on to to Simplex RD top pivot bolt from the back of the hanger, has a smaller diameter than the Campy RD dropout hanger threaded hole, so it should slide right through. Threads on the hanger hole is not used at all by the Simplex RD top pivot.....

That is what I figured but I have not tried it yet. Thanks!

Don't do it. It will assplode. You will be riding along, hit a bump and hear the sequel to The Franco-Italian War happening right there on your bike. No prisoners taken, your wife won't be answering her phone, and the Uber app on youry phone will just stop working. You'll be walking a long time for sure.

Just kidding! . What could possibly go wrong?

@rhm Ohh boy! Now that is disconcerting... I was just thinking out loud though, I have no plans to attempt this.
