Panaracer Pasela 27x1.25 - 'Keep Inflated to 95 psi'?
I mounted these tires tonight and noticed that the casing is labeled 'Keep Inflated to 95 psi'.
I'm thinking that 65-70 psi is preferable.
Has anybody had issues running this tire at lower pressures?
Thanks.

I can't remember what my 27 x 1 1/4 Pasela sidewalls say, but I don't think I've ever pumped those tires above maybe 85PSI.
For what it's worth, Panaracer's website claims that 95PSI is the maximum inflation pressure for those tires.
Edit: Actually, my Paselas are 27 x 1 1/8.

A couple of older sets I have very specific markings to not let them go flat that I assume pertains to storage so they don't become compromised from sitting on the sidewalls. Funny thing is they go flat just sitting way faster than any other tire I have ever seen.

This chart from Frank Berto seems to be the guide many use for tire inflation:

I run my Paselas at around 100 psi. I weigh right at 200lbs. and that pressure feels better to me. I don't like riding on soft tires. Mine are 700c x 28. I did get a pinch flat from letting them get too low, I guess. I'm not very precise other than "squeeze test" each ride. I would worry about sidewall damage at low pressures, unless you ride on perfect smooth roads which I dont.

Yeah, I'm 200 lbs and the 32mm Paselas feel a little hard and bouncy above 90psi to me. 75-85 feels like the sweet spot to me.

I ran these at 70-80 (based on the gauge on my floor pump) on Super Champion rims with no hooks, and they were great.

My Pasela 27x1 1/8 say 105 psi. I have never gone above 100, actually closer to 80-85. The 27x1 say 115 psi, and I normally run them at 90. I look at the tread. If it is only wearing a narrow band down the center, I lower the pressure.

I have a set of Origin8 27 x 1 1/4 tires on mine. If my pressure isn’t on the high side I have all kinds of issues with tire/tube slippage, flats, and handling.

I run 27 x 1-1/4" Paselas on my Trek 720 at about 75psi; no problems.

I have a few bikes with those tires. I run them between 80 and 100lbs. I weigh 220, What dictates that is what wheels they are on. I have a few bikes with Wienmann Concaves that do not have a hooked bead. If I inflate to much...BOOM! lol

And by the way, 1.25 is numerically the same as 1-1/4, but you should know that some tire sizes are expressed in decimals and some in fractions. Changing the notation is an implication of a change in diameter.

1 1/4" is just about the same width as 32mm. I run my 700Cx32 Paselas at around 70-75 psi, and I weigh 200 lb +. 95 psi is absurdly high for a true 32mm - unless that 1 1/4" is "nominal" and the true width is around 28mm, in which case it would be more appropriate for that weight.

When I started running really low pressure on the Compass tires- I started running the Paselas and Sand Canyon in the 65-75 range.

ok - thanks all for the info. on this. I'm going to run them at 70 and keep an eye on the sidewalls - should be ok. These are my first gumwall tires and I like the look of them - the 27 x 1.25 is pretty beefy. They're on a Trek 620 in-progress rehabilitation. I'm anxious to see how they feel on the road.
