Possible 1975/76 Gitane Gypsy model.

The bike as a whole appears to be an entry-level bike-boom era model, possibly the Gitane Gypsy (did I just repeat myself?) as gbi suggests.

The rear quick release looks suspiciously high-end, though.

I believe Gitane means "Gypsy". Think this model is a Grand Sport Deluxe, can't see if pedals have reflectors. My 1973 did not, I added some from a later. I think 1974 was the year that intro'd pedal reflectors. Gitane USA - Grand Sport DeLuxe

thanks for the info

Gitane actually had a mid-70s model named Gypsy.
Perhaps this is a Gypsy Deluxe, though I don't recall ever seeing one.
Maybe this is a Canadian specific model.
