Where are C&V members/posters located?

Is there a way to search where posters reside? Or is it blocked/confidential info?

I see you're in Connecticut, as you've chosen to add this info under CP Info (editable from the home page).

Others either don't know or have decided not to.

Classic Rendevous google group has a requirement to post your location. We're not that uptight here.

I would rather have everyone at least post the county and state they are in.

Helps with finding when members ask to find bicycle, parts, valuations and even simply being able to see how many bikeforum neighbors you got.

We used to have some kind of map where you could put a pin on your location.

Perhaps when all of you come to Coppi's 100th (www.vivacycling.com), we can come up with a plan/replacement.

vintagerando,
Many of us have posted information in our profiles, I posted my location in my sig., I nothing wrong with knowing where members are located, kind of nice seeing if there are bunch us clustered in nearby locations etc....we are not posting our street locations or other private information unless we want to divulge it.
I have members contact me by PM to get an idea of where I live..no issues for me.
Los Angeles, Ben

Long Island, New York. I posted Wrong Island because I would like to move off of this place to somewhere less expensive and more scenic. Oh, we have nice scenery, beaches and pine barrens and all. However, there are an awful lot of people here sharing space. I even like most of them. We're just shoulder to shoulder and it makes moving around difficult. Oh, I'm on a rant. Sorry

Well, you know where I live now.

Maybe I should have given an explanation why I was asking if there is a way to search for members in my area:

I don't have a way to connect with people who have a similar interest and love for vintage bikes; its all carbon and spandex where I am.
But maybe I am wrong; maybe there are others whom share a similar interest in building, riding, discussing , trading, etc. I just don't have a way to reach out to like-minded people.

A map where you could pin your general location by state would be awesome.
No private info, no street addresses; you can participate or op-out.

I agree that we should ALL include a general location in our profile, for others to see. I've had good results, several times, using that information to then PM the member saying "I'm planning a trip to your area. Any chance we could get together to 'tell tires and kick lies'? I had a great visit with Peter in southern England, right on the Channel, this summer that way. A fine English gentleman and C&V authority.

Someone did a google map for C&V members' locations. I found the thread: Where in the world is C&V?
It's 9 years old.

Hmm, I always figured nobody lived there any more because it was so crowded.

It always strikes me that one's location colors their perception of what equipment a bike should have, how it should be set up. Live in the flatlands and your FW will be 11-11-12-12-13-13. Live in the mountains and your FW will be 24-27-32-36-40-48 with a quad crank. Live on the plains and your drops will be below your knees. Live in a city and you may even keep you drop bar inverted so you can see over cars. Knowing where people live helps us understand why they set up their bikes so strangely.

I myself got off of "wrong island" a few years back. Never been happier.

Currently in Philly but likely to end up in Rochester.

I am now on the map. I notice that another of our members lives about 5km south me, in a different district of the same city (Encinitas CA).
