Odd Find on Campy Record Hub
I recently came across an old 32 hole Campy Record hub that has what appears to be a pressed on piece of the non drive side hub shell. This is the first time I remember seeing this as none of my other Record hubs have it. Anybody know anything about this?

You sure that's not just a casting mark that wasn't removed - or a small mark made by something that got wrapped around the hub while in use?

I'm gonna pull it apart and see what's on the inside. If something made that mark, it's perfect. It's the same measurement all the way around. I'll report back.

I agree that it looks like a wee bit of damage, to me. None the less, I am interested to see the final call on this component.

I suspect a rack or fender mounting bolt, a vert long one

Hey, you should get it posted on Velobase, and add a note about the special-issue, one-year-only Record 32-hole hub with a score-line, just to mess with everybody for the next 40 years.
