Carradice Bag question

It appears there would be leg interference with the wider seat bags. Can anyone speak to this?

dont have a carradice but i do have a wide saddle bag. I also sit pretty upright and like lots of leg extension. Never even notice the bag except for the occasional clink of its buckles on my rear rack.https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...06b2ad2716.jpg

For years, I commuted with a Carradice Barley. Like many people say, the back of your thighs gently touch the bag during the pedal stroke but you don't notice after a short time. A PVC pipe about 2 inches long can push the bag back a bit and it won't touch your legs at all. There are "racks" to support the bag but I never tried one.

I use a wide Carradice on my Dawes racing machine. No problem with or without the rack.

Thanks, all.

As the others said, not a real problem, imo. Like toe overlap with fenders during normal riding.

I don't have a Carradice bag, but I have a similar one. Unlike the other folks, I do not like the feeling of bags hitting me in the legs. I use a rack to hold it in place.

I used a bungee cord to pull it back a couple inches and stabilize it:

Kind of hard to see, but the bungee runs through the strap that holds the bag to the seatpost and pulls it rearward. If the bag is strapped tight to the seatpost it would touch legs to an irritating degree.

I have a very wide saddle bag- but since I ride a smaller frame and have a lower seat post- my rear rack supports my bag, and my legs do not strike the bag at all.

My Acorn tool roll hits the back of my thighs everyonce in a while.

Three different saddle bags (Carradice, Zimbale, and Wax Wing), credit card toured with two of them, commuted with one. Each barely touch my hamstrings sometimes, but almost never notice it.

Here's my bike, nlerner's, and our common friend Bob's bikes on a short credit card tour around French Fender Day.

And 10 bikes on the way to Bicycle Quarterly's annual un-meeting, this one from 2016:

No complaints of thigh bruising from bag-lash.
