Great stuff! I think you two should show up at the start line of a triathlon. We'll build a flying saucer, get a fog machine, and re-create the opening scene from Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

P.S. Robbie - they were trying to ban you - not the bike.

Lack of seat stays is a definite possibility. No seat tube, no seat stays on one, no seat stays, no top tube on the other. I'm sure the UCI had a lot of reasons. Now, if Boardman had shown up with it, or a French guy...

Not any more.

Some other guy paid $50 for it, on the off chance he could remove the BB. He used a hacksaw blade to cut it into 1/4 sections, carefully, and removed the pieces. Then he installed the components you saw in Greensboro, and sold it to the guy in Troy. The guy showed up for the test-ride (at a Jaguar dealership in Cary NC) and had to call his bank to get them to up the limit on his ATM card. The bank notified his wife and she called him immediately. It was quite a conversation to listen to.

Don't ask me how I know this.

^^^^^^^ The movie budget is probably roughly equal to that of these two bikes.....

Looking back at the eBay order/waiting adventures, I was picturing Robbie showing up at the Meadowlands, shovel in hand......

I might add, the Giant MCR was also banned, and that was just as odd, no real top tube. It was a very hard bike to even build much less go fast.
For one thing, the Trek Y foil has proved its aero design with rider and in conventional positioning.

If you've haven't already, do check out the Slowtwitch forum / triathlon TT retro and history. So many bizarre useless CO$TLY designs.

Aaagh!!! I can't unsee all that now!

I tell ya, some of those triathlon designs are simply hideous. Brrrrrr!

I like Y-Foils, tho. Saw my first while stationed in Hawaii and I admit to thinking about building one with Super Record.

The 2 on the DC list are starting to drop. Still out of my range. Both are tricked out. One of them has a funky integrated looking Mavic group. Might be Zap. The RD appears to have an aero cover on it.

Almost pulled the trigger on a Zap groupset to put on my Gan Team Lemond last year. But wasn't sure if I could really get it to work and wanted to be able to keep riding the bike. Still, the thought remains....

This is more within my price range. The colors match. That is the ugliest stem I have ever seen. It looks like a beer can. Would this bike be acceptable for the group?
