fair enough!
it is put away for the winter, so here is a shot from the day I got it, before I even wound up the RD to take up the chain. Spence Alpine RD mod, 1st gen Phil hub on the back, triplized TA adapter, modified Mafacs with Weinmann levers etc. etc. Repainted in Porsche paint in about 1972 (he did not like the original yellow) and then basically put away. Still had rotted Seta tires on it. It was taking up room in his garage and wanted it out of the way.

Told a friend about this Frejus near him and he bought it. He decided he'd never do anything with it and gifted it .

Spence was a fan of Merz and sold many frames from him. They were the the standard bearers of touring at the time, legendary to be sure.

I know the color is not stock, but it is part of the early history of the bike, so it stays.
how many other Cinelli SC’s are painted this color!

it’s funny. The guy ordered a silver frame, waited 6 months, then it showed up in yellow, with different chrome than he ordered. Spence knocked a few bucks off, built it up with black bar taped and delivered it. The guy rode it for about a year, but just couldn’t stand the color. His dad was getting his Porsche painted, so the painter offered to do the bike at the same time. He added a dash of black to tone it down and called it good. He also swapped out the Unicanitor (which he also gave me) for the Brooks Pro, put on yellow bar tape, then never rode it much.
I know the color is not stock, but it is part of the early history of the bike, so it stays.
how many other Cinelli SC’s are painted this color!

Was given this 52 Paff from the daughter of the original owner; after a lot of work was able to show it to her mother (who told stories of riding on the crossbar with her then boyfriend in 1953 on the bike) - she was so happy to see it back to something that looked decent.

When my cycling mentor gave me his 71 PX-10 which I'd so admired s a teen, he included some new and used components, and this custom 2-tray toolbox he'd assembled over the years. I can't say how often I turn to it because I know the tool I'm looking for will be right there...and I thank him every time I do.

The cromoly hybrid was a freebie offered in NNJ Craigslist. It actually was posted for about 3 weeks before I pounced on it. Cleaned and tuned, moved onto a new home.

While I have many, many C&V items that were gifted to me in the last ten yrs from parts,tools & bikes the one that popped into my head right away is my 531 Dawes Super Galaxy which was given to me by a customer ( I redid a 50's Schwinn for him ) sporting most if not all of it's original parts. I have cleaned & polished all the parts & bought new decals but I really want a pro paint job, have the place to do it & it's going the be about $175 for paint, lug lining, decal install and clear coat I haven't had that much to spend on one bike though. The one item I still need to get is the 531 decal which I need to match the original decal first which is under the pump peg in the photo..

I was given this 1952 E. Christophe by a friend who got it free from a local thrift store owner who got it for free at a rural garage sale.
These are the before and after photos, and yes, it gets ridden here in the foothills despite it's limited gearing.
This C&V Lincoln was found just last month, under the owner's trees with a "FREE" sign on it. Hadn't been started or moved in several years.
Shown here after a first cleaning, with a few mechanical tasks both done and still needing to be done.
Passes SMOG, and motor and trans are perfect, but it still needing an intake manifold replacement and power windows repaired.

Schwinn Voyageur S/P
Washed and no modifications.
Added Gran Compe Aero brake levers, NOS Shimano bar end shifters, and new handlebar tape.
I'm in the process of helping my mom clean out her house as she prepares to downsize (this is a multi-year process). Her 1982 Schwinn Voyageur S/P has been hanging in the basement for, well, the number of years between now and 1982. Fits my wife perfectly. Can't wait for spring.

Not free, but almost. This '78 Super Course frame, BB, fork, Headset, bars, brakes, and patched saddle was on local CL for $30, which I thought was fair. I pulled out 2 $20s. He didn't have change, and just told me to give him one 20. So I did. Easiest deal ever.
Wheels and crank are some I just threw on for pictures.
My other Super Course was free, as a back alley scrap metal find.
