In my own defense: I had built what I considered a Raleigh 'Tribute' bike not too long ago. I wrote Velocals and asked if I could use a decal meant for that bike. They said yes. In this instance, because I was going for the movie Masi 'crash' bike which existed, I didn't feel I was misleading anyone. I'm not opposed to a sticker that says replica. Or, something more severe And I will have the bike cremated with me. Truth be told, there will likely come a time when I need $ and will part out the components... maybe, or not...
So I'm really being selfish here. I want to make sure I can get accurate, reproduction decals now and in the future. I want to discourage any activities that might tee off current or future owners of these trademarks. Velocals does a great job, I'd like to keep them selling to the DIY crowd.

I have it on good authority that all of these ballplayers were really Camel men.

Thanks. I love that movie and lost of other old movies. The cast of characters in this one is fabulous!

incazzare.
I mean, marketing arrangements where the builder and brand owner made an agreement aren't really comparable at all, but whatever.

Many fans have built replicas of famous movie cars, like Mad Max, Christine, Dukes of Hazzard, Vanishing Point, etc

I used to commute on a fake Masi. Well it wasn't fake exactly, just not a "real" Masi. I mean it came from the factory already faked out. Anyway, is a real fake Masi more acceptable than a fake fake Masi?

Did it leave the factory as a fake or as a mass production licensed Masi?

But don't they usually start with the same model car?

As do I
I hope you're not letting yourself be influenced by the guns these pocket-edition desperadoes are waving around, because I've practiced taking guns from these boys before; so we'll have no trouble there.

[Another] Breaking Away replica project - Masiphile help needed
was a big inspiration. Though he did use a Masi frame And I disagreed with some of his components choices. I think he chose 3TTT for handlebars and stem. From still shots, I believe they were Cinelli for example Campione Delmondo. And many of the replicas out there have deep yellow Newbaum's bar tape. I've found some light yellow that still isn't perfect but closer to the original. And I admit to the temptation to dirty up the cloth- but that would be stupid D'Ohhh! And it's all nit-picky.
How about this for a replica!
