Help with Everwin bike

Hi everyone! I recently bought an old frame that I can't much information on. It's labeled an Everwin "Extra Competition" and seems to be pretty great build quality. I was wondering if anyone has heard of the brand or had any additional info about it? The only info I could find online pointed sale listings for two slightly newer pursuit/TT kind of frames and a similar age frame but with track dropouts.

The links for those bikes are here. Not trying to advertise for them or anything, just the only reference I can find to the brand.

?? EVERWIN **********??? @ Nature-Cycling **********? :: ??? ::

The gentleman I bought this from said the only other bikes that had this branding were high end track stuff that he had heard of. He was thinking it was related to 3rensho or something. While I highly doubt that it is I guess it's always possible! The weight for the frame/fork/headset is ~8lbs. I believe it's standard English threading for the BB. It's built for 700C wheels from what the guy said and the rear spacing is 130mm. The seat tube measures for a 26.6 sized post. I also believe it's made of Tange Champion No 1 tubing. The decal is rubbed off but that shade of blue on the decal makes me think it's No 1.

Will be building it up as a keeper for sure, got an old DA 7402 group on the way. Can't wait to rip around town on it! Just would like to see if there's some kind of story or something for the frame/brand!

If anyone has heard anything about it or has any info at all I'd love to hear it!

From what I can find this sticker was the Champion no 1 color.

Looks to be a nicely made frameset. Where ever it came from, it is a nice one.

Thanks! That's what I think as well. Just weird that I can't find any reference to the company anywhere.

With that name, I was expecting dept. store. ;) Very nice, did you look up Yamamoto sports cycle as well?

Yea tried to do some digging for the head badge but couldn't find anything. Fair enough! It is a fairly unusual name.

Nice frame, how about a better picture of the sticker with "10 cycle" something on it? The importer?

What's it weigh?

Paging T-Mar, he may be able to work with the s/n.

Thanks! That seems like a later addition. It's a sticker for the 10th Orange Cycle Road Race. I'll get a picture of it though.
Little under 8 pounds.

Ever Win is a Japanese brand owned by Yamamoto and dating back to at least 1975. The serial number format is consistent with M-a-t-s-u-s-h-i-t-a, best known for their Panasonic brand. Based on that, plus the frame features, I'd say it is from very early 1984. The stay end treatment is also typical of that seen on higher end Panasonic bicycles of the era. The only anomaly is the seat post pump peg, which seems dated for the era. That is a Tange #1 decal and is correct for the era. If you remove the fork, there may be date stamp on the steerer tube to confirm the year.

Awesome! Thanks for the help! So is it safe to assume it was built in a Panasonic factory? Yea, the pump peg seems strange there but I like it. Only need the 1 bottle for most rides around town.

The stamping on the steerer tube is YT 208. It Also says 4A. If I remember right that means Jan of that year?

Don't forget most information regarding bikes from before say '94ish was mostly put up there by enthusiast of the brand.
