Linda Ronstadt's voice reminds me of Joan Baez. They're not the same, especially in style, but that's what came to mind after all these years.

Her and Freddy Fender were my dads favs. My uncle played for Freddie Fender for a while. Have them on a playlist and still bring a tear to me eye when listening to certain songs. Brings back childhood memories and my dad.

This does not remind me of any of the 1970s era Tucson, Arizona shops.

I remember seeing Linda sing at Summerfest in Milwaukee, back in the 80's. Seeing her perform live, I felt like a lovestruck teen again like back in highschool...... Couldn't concentrate at all tor a whole week in my college classes!

Rock and roll, country, Latin, classic, show tunes and countless other musical genres.
I hated former California Governor Jerry Moonbeam Brown because, for a while, he dated her.
They used to hangout at Lucy’s El Adobe restaurant in Los Angeles. I saw then there and I definitely hated Moonbeam.

I agree, not local, I hit every shop before buying my UO-8 in '72. I think in the '70s she was only coming to town to do concerts and charity events, Heart Like a Wheel was out in '74 so she was a rock star in the late 70's and if she was hanging out in town it would have been big news.

London Calling is pretty much my go-to Clash anymore, although the albums have all aged well and most are in at least semi-regular rotation. If you haven't spent any time with Joe Strummer's solo stuff it's well worth a listen, especiallyStreetcore.

I've been a big fan of the Pretenders since the early 80's Their music is absolutely timeless.
Chrissie Hind's ultra clear, pure tone voice really sets her apart from all other singers of her time and even today.
Totally different personality projected though when compared to LR. Kinda tough, with a definite edge and sometimes visually edging towards "Goth"" (way before it was popular).....
Frankly, I can't see Chrissie riding a bike..... maybe a tandem?, with her on the stoker saddle and her booted feet on the Captain's back, while he does all the pedaling......

If this is morphing into a thread about other female vocalists that are up there, I would include Johnette Napolitano. People might not have heard of her or not like Concrete Blonde's music, but she has an impressive set of pipes. Kind of scary like Joan Jett.
Here are some covers of songs people will have heard before. The Leonard Cohen cover was an impromptu change to acoustic because of gear problems. They winged it with just a guitar. They do a nice job with the Hendrix cover. She really gets theatrical on stage.
