I took the first step.

...and bought an iPhone 6S. 😎 I know right next to nothing about Apple products, but it’s been coming for awhile. Microsoft lost me awhile back, but I’m weird, and resisted the Apple for quite awhile. Anyways, please forgive any idiot stuff I “ might” do, while learning.😉

It's ok, I lost faith in technology long ago....

I had an iPhone 5s. When Samsung came out with the Note 3, I thought it was the most ridiculously huge excuse of a phone. One day it dawned on me that I rarely use the phone as a phone- but I read all kinds of stuff- when it came time to get a new phone, I got a 7 Plus. Shortly thereafter I got a 6s as a work phone. The 6s is pretty much just as fast and "good" as the 7- the only thing I didn't like is that it wasn't the "Plus" size.

Well, for general cycling purposes StarDog is going to want to know how best to use the camera, the GPS options available for it, the web browser for posting pics and reading C&V, all kinds of stuff.

But yeah, an iPhone 6 is not strictly C&V in and of itself.

I've has a 6s since December 2014. As much as I enjoy wrenching and riding vintage bike,I've come to really enjoy photographing them with the iPhone. Posting pictures here is really easy.

canklecat 02-08-19 10:12 PM

Should have gotten the C&V model -- the iPhone 4s, the chromoly equivalent in phones. Takes longer to do anything but it's so pretty you won't care.

Getting back to classic and vintage, I had a Motorola flip phone for 10 years, before I got my Samsung Galaxy 5, which I plan to keep another few years. I love the camera in the S5, and see no reason to run out and get a new one. I take a lot of pictures of my vintage bike with it, so I guess there is a vintage connection here somewhere. Well, I tried.😀

Taken with Samsung Galaxy 5.

Got me. Probably some new subliminal spammy technique from our host internet brands. They certainly haven't learned how to spank these pimps.

More fun: Observe the date and product. Lol

Because it has a headphone jack, and don’t be so rude.

The 6S was released in the early part of the Jurassic period.

FWIW, I only recently got my first, an SE, and it has a leather case.

I try never to use any of its telephone functionality, since I hate calling other people, and I send all incoming calls directly to voice mail, which I never check. (Win/win.)

I use the SE (on my second). It fits great in my jersey pockets because it's small. It also has the same camera as the 6 so the photos of my rides and bikes come out quite nice unless there's operator error.

Apologies to the general population here, I don’t mean to get crabby when other people get rude. 😉
The short story, I logged into BF for the first time on the iPhone, and figured why not start a thread, to make sure things are right. Didn’t mean to ruffle anyone’s feathers.
Mine cost me $29, for switching my internet service provider. Plus activation & the first month, of course. Plus I got a free leather case. 😎 Oh yeah, mine was brand new in the box, not a refurb, and it has a 32 gig SSD, not 16.

I've had an iphone 6S since new, which I think was in the spring of 2015. It's still working perfectly. There was a deal where they kind of acknowledged they botched the battery life, so I got a replacement for $37 including sales tax. I use mine heavily, and it's going strong. I use a Quad Lock mount to mount it to my bike handlebars. I run the ridewithgps app. I mount an external battery to the bike frame to keep the battery charged while I ride. This way, I don't need a separate bike computer. I got Quad Lock mounts for my wife's cars, and I got her a Quad Lock case for her iphone, so the phones twist in quickly and easily.

Here is the battery mounted to the bike with a velcro strap, a heavy rubber band, and a ball bungee.

Excuse me? I was rude? If you had left out the rude bit, I might have replied that maybe I was a bit brusque. But since you can't seem to leave well enough alone, I am going to respond.

I asked a valid question. Maybe it could have been posed better. All you have done is brag about your new phone in both posts. If you had tied it into something relevant to C&V that would have been fine; like "How does RideWithGPS work on my new phone". Note that a good many of your respondents DID tie in C&V material.. But nothing C&V involved in your posts. Yeah, I know. I am not the forum police. Just put me on your ignore list. I will be putting you on mine.

I've only had a cell phone for a year. I hate it.

That’s OK. It probably doesn’t like you very much either. :p

easyupbug 02-10-19 07:46 AM

Computers look terrible on C&V, my iPhone in a jersey pocket is a blessing (gps, photos, call for help, etc.). Only thing I seriously want now is a program that specifically logs data for my various bikes. I would love to join chain life bragging posts, know hub re-lube intervals, etc., but can't seem to manually keep track of the dozen bikes I ride over a years time.

That’s right, you could have just ignored this thread, if it didn’t interest you. That’s part of the function of the “back” arrow. If you put me on your ignore list, we should both be happy.
