Seattle Bike Swap - Mar 10

I figured I'd get this out there early since alot of folks are snow bound in the Puget Sound area from the weekend. Looks like the Seattle Bike Swap is on March 10 at Magnuson Park, Hangar 30 in Seattle. I'm finally going to be able to go this year after missing it for the past 7 or 8 yrs.

Anyone else planning on going. I'll be meeting up with Wildwood @Wildwood to give him a couple of parts.

And in some other thread I read there will be

a Puget Sound C&V Bike Ride the Day Before the Swap = March 9th.

Let us hope for a big turnout at the ride and the Swap.
Look forward to seeing folks again, or for the first time.

Who's in charge of picking a route??? For the ride.

I'll be there with some cash burning a hole in my pocket! I need to touch base with @Lascauxcaveman to see if he wants to make the drive with me. Someone set up a lunch gathering at U Village after last year's swap. 'Hope this happens again.

I plan to be there for the swap. I had been hoping to come up for the day before ride, but I won't be able to make that unless it's late enough in the day that I can drive up in the morning.

I won't be able to make the ride. May have my oldest son and possibly my brother there for the swap.

I'll ride shotgun with you again, if I can get the weekend off (probable). Or we can take my jalopy this time. No extra space needed for big honkin' tricycle to ride along inside.

I plan on being there as well. Will see what the weather is like for the ride, and time of departure. Would likely be good for that as well. Lunch last year was very good. Slinking around in the overly crowded parking lot on fumes with an idle air control valve acting up was not good. Finally found a spot after getting gas at the station around the corner. No item agenda this year, but will be looking at everything.

My vote would be for a noon or 1:00pm start time for the ride - unless the weather is unseasonably warm. Snow cancels???

I’ll be there again at booth #32 , selling a bunch of stuff. Y’all stop by and say hi - booth #32 .
I’ll have a bunch of miscellaneous stuff for sale - still trying to just clean out my parts bins. Maybe a few C&V items. And a lot of junk.
See you March 10.

For a booth, what's the cost, & how do I get one? I've got a few bikes I wouldn't mind off-loading. A tandem wheelset (40 hole, uniglide 7 speed, Arai drum brake), a box of seats, boxes of spokes, a few bottom brackets, about a dozen forks...

The swap is put on by Cascade Bike Club, so go to cascade.org and you can find the event listed there. Thereís a link to vendor information. The cost is about $70 or so for a 10íx10í booth. They may be sold out by now, but itís worth checking.

Also, you can take ready-to-ride bikes there and sell them on consignment without the need to get a booth.

One of the nice things about being a vendor is getting in early to set up, but of course we walk around and scout out the best deals and coolest items before the doors open. I think thereís an option to pay extra and get in early.

Last year I saw one guy walking around with his own homemade cardboard sandwich board sign, listing about 10 items he was selling. Thatís one way to sell stuff without a booth. I donít know how effective that is or if the organizers frown upon that sort of thing.

Best Sat ride route?

The Cedar River Trail (parallels Maple Valley Hwy) goes for 10 paved miles then a few more gravel. Double for the return route. Straight with a shallow incline out and easy return. Quick access off I-405 in Renton.

Marymoor Park (Redmond) meeting location offers: 1. 30 mi 'around Lake Sammamish' or 2. Sammamish River Trail and connections such as Burke Gilman.

North Bend offers paved Middle Fork Road - something over 30 miles, depending on start point.

Camano Island is a drive north, but killer destination with shorter and longer routes.
Foothills Trail is a drive south but offers a couple of small towns and miles of trail. Sumner, Orting, Buckley

I do not know Seattle.
