Let's See Your $50 Bike
There was a recent post here of someone who just picked up a bike that was $50. It got me thinking of bikes I had purchased for $50. Let's see your bike(s) that you bought for exactly $50. Not $35 or $60 but exactly $50. Here are a few that I know I paid $50 for.

$50 garage sale find. Seller warned that it wasn't "legal https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3022/...d125026f_b.jpg |
Hmmm, as best I can remember I've only got two for that price. One a steal and one just average.
The steal: It looked like this the night I picked it up in the dark and brought it home. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...d7082d2f2b.jpg And this is where I am with it now. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...749249b69c.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...5a33484151.jpg The other was my U-08. Looked like this after some initial sorting out: https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...95e001dd0e.jpg And now it's like this: https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...534032c3b3.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...51191fa636.jpg |
$50 frameset count?
|
I know you said the Prologue was your 'steal', but this Pug is one of the nicest bikes I've ever seen. Between the two, this is the one that catches my eye.

Funny you should start this thread, OP. I picked up a bike yesterday for $50 exactly. It's actually still in the back of the truck, and it's snowing out, so there it stays.
Schwinn Speedster, 3sp internal rear, and that's all I know about it, other than I liked the looks of it, and the guy was pretty cool, so I bought it. Too big for me, as well, but hey, it's red. Pics when the weather permits. |
I believe I’d go as high as $75 for a Tommasini. |

Like new with original tires since overhauled and new tires. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...13eef1b8de.jpg Heavy with Shimano 7sp, fenders and rack. Good beater for NYC streets. Both found on CL. |
Well now I need to set my Craigslist to 50 bucks and see what happens, I can't NOT participate in this thread! #N+1 |

Gifted it to my mother to replace her Schwinn World Sport which went to my sister. |

Also never got 1 for $50, but in 1980 I bought a $35 Raleigh Sports for school and work transportation. Few years ago, I ran that price through an inflation calculator and got $110. Just ran it again today and got $106.92, so at some point it must have been exactly $50 no matter how fleetingly. :) Don

Rats, wanted to post my minty Trek 930SHX again but paid too little! Oh well, |
Free: the Bianchi, given to me by a neighbor
Free: white 1973 UO-8, given to me by a coworker; eventually the chainstay cracked between the chainring and tire clearance dimples Free: late 1950s Armstrong 3-speed with Cyclo 3x3 hybrid transmission conversion, which I later changed to 3x4; I gave it away to a friend several years later $15: my first bicycle, a Schwinn middleweight cantilever frame with 2-speed Bendix coaster hub; gave away after getting my first road bike $20: Sears Free Spirit, by far the worst bicycle I have ever owned, fortunately stolen from the bike racks at work $20: Capo Modell Campagnolo, although I subsequently splurged on the CyclArt paint job |

mid 80's PH10LE I am not a French Bike guy, but at $50 it was hard to pass up. It is my size and at some point I will clean it up and ride it. It seems like a nice bike , not entry level. The geometry is good. I have a set of nice Strada anodized red wheels that will go on it with a nice freewheel and Miche hubs. I also have a red Mundialita seat that will look great too replace the black one that is on there .Maybe red cables? The existing seat is in great shape and I like Mundialita seats so I will hold on to it . Probably the Heliomatic rear hub is shot ( a lot of slop). |
Does two bikes for $50 count? I found 2 Motobecane Grand Records being sold together for that amount several years back. Not sure how to link that thread- “A pair of vintage Moto’s“. Photos are there... |

$25 FOR THIS ONE - got it as a two bike deal for $50 so I guess it sorta qualifies. I am a rule breaker, sorry.
