My grail tourer doesn't fit!
I posted my 57cm '91 Miyata 1000 in the frame doesn't fit and didn't get a lotta responses. But I did find a forumite whos Miyata 60cm WOULD fit me, but his was too small for him, so he had no use for mine.
Then we came across another member with a Trek 720, that was too big for him, and we thought a triple swap was in the works, but it turns out my Miyata was to small for him.
So that leads me here, to a fresh thread.
If you have a grail/ high end production touring bike and you'd like to swap it for a same or similar, post it up.
I have a wonderful condition Miyata 1000 that is 57cm and one size too small. Although I can make it work with a riser stem I am...

I have the 57cm Miyata that Tarsi is looking for, but his trades are too big or too small. So if anyone has the 61cm Miyata 1000LT they can trade it to me, then take my 57cm Miayat LT and trade it to Tarsi for a 21" or a 25.5" Trek 720.
Or trade your 61cm Miyata 1K LT to Tarsi for one of his Trek 720's and then he can trade for my Miyata that's in his size.
But these triple trades are near impossible to sort out if we don't have a thread a little more specific than the general "frame doesn't fit" catagory.

I'm the one with the 60cm 1990 Miyata 1000LT Chr0m0ly referenced.
I'm not necessarily itching to get rid of it, but if a nice, quick, high-end sport touring bike around 62cm were to become available--especially one that can handle 32c tires plus fenders--I might have a hard time saying no. (The bike is to serve as a rando bike.) I could trade that to Chr0m0ly, who could trade his 57cm Miyata for the sport touring bike.
The Miyata is a little small for me. It's 60cm c-t with a 57cm top tube. Something like 62cm c-t would be better, with a top tube around 58cm.

I hesitate to mention this because I don’t want to blur the focus, but what do you think about adding in other high end/grail/hard to find bikes that aren’t touring specific?
I ask because I’ve got a couple sportier bikes that are pretty hard to find. You think they should have a place here? I’m perfectly happy to trade them FOR a touring bike or sport tourer.

It seems like the “Frame Doesn’t Fit” thread would benefit tremendously from a spreadsheet.

Frameset only: 1975 Schwinn Voyageur II (made by Panasonic and the precursor to the '77 & '78 Volare) IIRC this is a 61cm.
Since I don't need any more bikes and I'm determined to N-1 as much as possible, I'll trade it for the cost of shipping and for freewheels (number to be negotiated). Unfortunately I don't have a better picture at the moment. It can take large tires 30mm+++ I also have the wheels, fenders and "Jim Blackburn" racks.

Maybe the solution is a new thread pinned at the top with just a single post with the link to a spreadsheet? The thread should be locked to eliminate new replies that would bury the link. It sounds like the spreadsheet is a more efficient way of managing trade opportunities so there's got to be a way to encourage it's use vs the existing method, I'd think.

I’ve got a couple 56cm options (slightly too large for me):
- 1984 Trek 520 complete bike, good shape, looks mostly original. I used it as a commuter and fast weekend trainer. Very nimble frame despite the touring geometry.
- 1992 Trek 790, f&f only, but can probably reassemble if interest is there. This was a grail bike for me as I wanted to make a drop bar gravel tourer and this offered Trek’s top of the line frame — USA made, chromoly, and lugged. In a gorgeous pearl blue. Took me ages to find. Unfortunately, frame is too large. It’s listed as a 21”, but the hybrids of that era were sized differently. Effective top tube is roughly 56/57.
I’m interested in 80s tourers in 54/55cm (21”) sizing, such as post-1982 Trek 720 cantilever tourer (already have the center-pull 1982 model) or 1984 univega specialissima. I prefer a frame swap, but open to possibilities.

@fender1 and @machinist42 so sorry about the slow response. I'm away on vacation and not been on BF for the past 3-4 days.
When I return March 16 I'll take better measurements. However, I can confirm it is not a 23" because it is larger than my 24"/60cm '71 P-13 Paramount. So it must be the 25" Voyageur II. The paint is not in the best shape, but it is fully chromed underneath and therefore with the silver paint it is not very noticeable. Thanks for your interest and I'll be back in touch after I return.

One at local co-op
I have been eyeing a 1000LT at my local co-op for a year that is too large for me: looks like a 60cm. Very nice shape. I am not sure of the year but it has downtube shifters and no midfork brazeons. Priced at $275 and I keep waiting for it to shrink to 56-57 to fit me.
