Tildesley cycles limited
I am hoping to assemble information about Tildesley Cycles Ltd. who had premises named as Thanet Works, in Tildesley, Birmingham.
If I am successful in any way, I will make the information available to the V.C.C., The National Cycle Museum and to anyone else who might be interested. From what I have been able to research, very little is known about this apparently quite important small manufacturer of rather nice bicycles. I don't have an approximate date when the company was formed, or even when it closed or was acquired etc. by someone else. The late 1930's has been mentioned when the company was formed, but I presume that this is a guess and also that the company ceased trading in the mid 1960's, also possibly just a supposition ? The V.C.C. has very kindly given me sight of Tildesley's 1954 catalogue, but apart from details of models available at the time, general information is not shown. If anyone can provide me with information, I would be extremely grateful. |
