This thread is fine example of what we do to a simple question.

Also, I just bought a custom track bike. I figured "whatever" and tossed an offer out. So now I can wear skinny jeans and grow a soul patch . Maybe a beret or a bike cap backwards. And drink $5 coffee. Maybe I'll move to Portland.

What @Giacomo 1 says is kind of true. With slower riding, you probably want special features such as braze-ons, paint, or dimensions. If you just want a light, fast frame, a stock Italian one is great.
So did @rccardr….

It doesn't mean a custom builder can't build you a light fast frame....but probably not for what you can get a 20-year old Italian (or Japanese) that works as well, given our limited abilities to tell them apart.
