Rescued Pinarello, please help identify. Thanks.

Hi friends, it's been a long time since my last post. The vintage road bike market completely dried up in my area. I re-invented myself, and have learn to appreciate fine art, and vintage watches. However, I would never pass up vintage steel, as itself is artistic. I picked up this Pinarello locally, unfortunately, it became someone's unfinished project. It does not bother me at all. I do however, would like to know the style. The only decals are on the downtube, and partially on the seat tube. It has all 105, with Pinarello stamped Nisi wheels. Seat post is a 26.8. Thank you, and please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you.

The Matrix tubing was used in mid-range models in the mid 80s. The Shimano 105 also suggests a mid range model. That is all I know though!

Could be a Dolomite circa '87:

The Dolomite, Tre Cime and Asolo were built around the Cadore frame:

Although the paint looks a little worse for wear, the chrome looks to be in good nick. Did somebody say chromovelato?

Agreed, it looks like a Dolomite and has a remnant of a Columbus Matrix decal but Matrix typically uses a 27.2mm seat post. A 26.8mm post is indicative of Aelle and there was an Aelle model called the Veneto, though it typically had no chrome, Based on the palmares decal, it is 1985-1988, while OEM New 105 places it 1987-1989. So, it has characteristics of both a 1987-1988 Dolomite and Veneto. To identify which, the OP needs to determine if the post is properly sized for the seat tube (i.e. if the cinch slot is significantly pinched at the top),

Thanks to all for your time and help. I sincerely appreciate it. I agree with you as well, based on all of the presented details, that it's a Dolomite. Thanks again.

Hey @flash2070, great to see you here. nice score there. Should clean up nicely.

I ended up with your old Tommasini Prestige frame and fork, the pink one with the chromed AiR fork. It rides so nice and always gets second looks when I have it out.

And I thought Pinarello decals flaked off easily.

Definitely has the justly-renowned quick-release Pinarello paint job.

Nice find. Clean it up and ride the heck out of it like it was meant to be ridden.

Nice to hear from you. How could I not remember that lovely Tommasini. Quite the special bike. It definitely rides beautifully. Never bothered me that it was pink. It actually stood out amongst all others, and was a head turner when I rode it as well. It was babied all its life from when I took posession of it. Keep riding and enjoying it. Thank you again for the purchase. I appreciate it.
