Removing OMAS lockring: 36x24

I believe this is Italian threaded.(36x24) On the drive train side, which way do I turn the lockring to remove it? (I researched it and found two differing opinions)
I am hoping someone has first hand experience and can help me out.
Thanks.

An Italian BB is right hand thread. So think of the lock ring and cup as a fat bolt and nut, and the nut should turn to the left to loosen it

Counter-clockwise to loosen.

Uhmmm... you should be able to just see the end of the threads on the cup to determine what direction to go to remove the lockring.....
Try to use a proper lockring wrench instead of a drift, so you do not end up damaging the lockring notches, like a lot of people do...

The BB is very interesting.....its square taper, late 80s, with cartridge bearings pressed on. Never seen one like this.

Big-Sliding was the model pretty sure.
some were ti, some were steel spindle.
if yours has an aluminum lock rings be sure to use a spanner that catches almost all the slots at once, too soft to attempt just one.
