I’m lost as to what I have. Some have said it’s possibly one of the first criteriums. I don’t know. Thoughts? |
The oldest (that I know of) Criterium frame from the first production series. Check the markings on the fork steering tube.

Decoding EM Corsa Extra Lotto (Fuchsia/White/Chrome)
Hi CyclesMakaron,

I tried to take some photos from the important parts (information i got while reading the thread). i hope you could help me and it would mean a lot to me. thank you very much in advance! P Z9202 ED 1 87
I wrote about it on FB Info/options: - So far I have only seen the initials on the profi team frame on Panasonic 1986 and 1987. - if it is Panasonic then there were 3 Eric(k)s competing there in the 1987 season: Breukink, Van Lancker, Vanderaerden and each had correspondingly marked frames (EB,EL,EV). - there was also Eddy Planckaert, he should have had the marking EP, perhaps it was decided to change this to ED (EP could have been confused with the inaccurately reflected EB), perhaps there was a confusion of markings (letters P and D). - there is still a possibility that ED was supposed to start for Team Panasonic in 1987, a frame was built for him in the fall of 1986, but for unknown reasons (contract breakup, health problems) he did not race that season. ...And don't put up for sale those "team Motorola" (because there are two) from 1985.... show the manufacturer's markings, they may turn out to be valuable frames without sensational descriptions.... C6162 Other than the dating (spring 1991) I can't write anything certain. As for 1991 Lotto 1988 paint pattern is a surprise. Did you make sure it's an SLX? |
Hopefully this one hasn’t been covered already, and appreciate your input. This Eddy Merckx frame has been listed on eBay for quite a while, first as a complete bike and now as a frameset. I was wondering if you could determine if this was a Reynolds 753 frame. The seat stay treatment looks like what I’m used to seeing on the 753 frames, internal rear brake cable routing, number tab, Eddy Merckx brake bridge and Corsa Extra style fork crown.
Bottom bracket: Left Y 5 Right A 6382 Seller lists as a 54, but guessing it’s a 55. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...acc1c7815d.png https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...bba7642ca.jpeg |
Most likely, it is a Corsa Extra - unfortunately, there is no basis for determining what tubes the frame is made of.
A photo of the tube ends visible through the BB cover would help a lot. |

Corsa Extra - frame built from SLX/SPX/TSX tubing in late 1997 or early 1998 - paint pattern (M9) introduced in 1998 - "century" geometry - difference in frame (9) and fork (0) size marking appears regularly - a few little details (chrome lugs, STI slides, number hanger, bottle holder mount on ST, owner's name) are paid options - Fietsen VANDEN EYNDE Wezemaal is a bicycle shop/workshop at most 30 km away from where the frame was manufactured (Meise) |
CyclesMakaron Thank you. Do you have any idea if it was built originaly wirh Compagnolo or Shimano? Or was it just sold as a frame and fork? What is "century geometry"?. Is Dimitri his first name or last? Thank you again for the info.
|
Dimitri would be his first name. Last name, first name appears to be the case here. CyclesMakaron can explain Century geometry for you .

Hi all,
Thanks for the amazing post, really loving the bikes and the information on figuring out what is happening! I have one that has the following serial number: 1 ---- A A ---- 5820 The only sticker I have says that it's a Corsa, but I can't quite get the decoding done myself. |
Check around 1A for C or R; A5820 is a 1987 frame.
Piece of card on fork steering tube may contain interesting information. |

It should be a Corsa built with Columbus SL/SP tubes. Without photos I can't write more.
