Yeah, I'm gonna get yelled at when the wife notices. We're in the process of buying a home and moving, I really don't need another bike to deal with right now, but I couldn't pass up that color!

It looks exactly like the red Raynal 3 speed "English Racer" that I had in 5th grade, about 1959. I loved that bike. It got stolen in elementary school, but the cops found it and I got it back. Later, I removed the fenders and chain guard, even put drop bars on it and tried to make it a real racer, until I saw my cousin's new Continental. His had 10 speeds! I loved my "Racer", but begged my parents for a red Continental. I never got a picture of the Raynal. Never seen another one either. Nice find.

Just scrolled through the thread. A little beauty! Throw some downtube cable clamps on it, heed that stem height warning, do a bit of the usual maintenance, and ride the wheels off of it.

Maybe not high end, but an old professor of mine rode an earlier version of a Raleigh from Connecticut to Minnesota and back. (Of course, he did say, that his memory was that one day in PA he did 25 miles, and he thinks he walked for 12 of them.

Until seeing the pictures of these beautiful vintage bikes, I had never considered buying one. But that 69 Ranger in Syke's post #12 has made me reconsider. Love that bike. One thing though, The seat looks hard under those springs, Is it reasonably comfortable? I would want to keep it original, Or as close as practical.
Can I buy one that has been restored to excelent condition. I might pay 10 or 20x what Jef paid.

You do not want the vinyl for any long rides. I keep a few just in case for show.
