Blackburn/"jim blackburn" was/is a US based company- all the old stuff was made in the USA. The Vetta Blackburn knockoffs were marked made in Italy.

this is post #13 from the "nice rack" thread. the roberts rack he refers to is quite like the rear one for my 'vega. iow's, quite likely what i have is a minoura, eh. one more mystery solved. the world is little brighter

i'd be inclined to call it a disease IF you were sleeping with a bike in your bed...maybe a different one every night....and only certain "special" ones on holidays. and, maybe they all have names and you keep a photo album on the coffee table you gleefully like to share with your guests....which maybe you don't have so much of, anymore. otherwise, call yours just a moderate fixation...hehe

as for not shifting, heck...the rear cable's not even attached in your photo!

I know-it’s almost as disappointing as when you open the “jugs” page on the Smithsonian site...

are you the peeping tom i chased away. The cable was in bad shape so I was in the process of changing it and then ran out of time. As far as it not shifting I noticesd when pushing the derailleur even with the cable disconnected it does not move very far. I think I'm going to clean it de grease it and attempt to adjust it, hopefully I will be successful and I can get it back on the rode. BTW did these bikes originally come with barrel shifters or down tubes ?

no, no...my name's matthew

not moving far? yeah, it could be all gummed up. or, maybe you're not quite pivoting it right to get it to move inward and down. hard to explain. anyway, some silicone never hurts

both of my '83's came with down tubes levers. given the updated nature of your equipment compared to mine, yours may have come with bar ends. but, i'm speculating....i have no real clue.

Finally got around to tuning and fixing the Vega. The barrel or bar end shifters were a real pain but I shifted it from index to friction and that did the trick. Shifting nice now all I need is a pair of pedals and off I go.

went m.i.a., didn't i? sorry

they're just called bar end shifters....aka barcons. "barrel" is in reference to the adjusters for cable tension on either brakes or shifters. nice to hear you're up and running, though. kinda sad no indexing, so something is awry. accushift indexing, i take it?

btw, there's a GT....same year as yours....goin' for $120 on ebay right now. lusty!
