That rack is massive. You might want some wider bars than the Porter bars if you're going to load that thing up. Cool project.

I had a porteur rack in my last bike and it was good and bad. I always needed my cargo net to deal with my purse or backpack or grocery bag. Panniers are ok, but annoying to deal with all day - I prefer to leave on bike. So I went for a tall porteur rack! My loads won’t be super heavy (5-15#), but backpacks and purses can be tricky.

Whoa!! That is awesome!
I bought my daughter a Bianchi mixte some years back. I think she forgot she has it or something. Every now and then it comes out of the shed and I can't help myself. I have to ride it. Not only do mixtes look awesome, but this thing utterly disappears beneath me. So I understand the appeal to those "in the know", like you.

Beautiful build.
You're right to take this bike inside and have a valet place to keep it secure during the day. Keeping it secure stored or hands on is really the only safety left and wise on your part. Looking forward to the final build pictures.

It is always interesting in how different people solve/design the same stuff. I like the brake post stand offs, I've done much the same before. I am concerned about foot/heel clearance and those widely spaced stays. With my preference for a narrow Q I would want to be sure that my feet cleared the stays, especially if running flats and not clipped pedals. Do I see that the RH seat stays are bolted to the drop out? Belt drive? Andy

Not sure about the origin of the seat stays. Can't wait till it arrives.
